R & R Troop Travel

(for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom)

Rest & Recuperation (R&R) Travel R&R Leave in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) began at the end of September, 2003. All personnel on a twelve-month tour of duty in Iraq are eligible for 15 days of R&R Leave, including assigned military and DOD civilians (APF & NAF). Local Commanders have authority to grant R&R leave.

Destinations R&R travelers will be flown on government contracted aircraft to either Frankfurt, Germany, Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport (ATL), or Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Airport.

Onward Travel A commercial travel agency at the port of embarkation (Kuwait City) will be available to arrange onward travel reservations to each traveler’s final destination.

    Atlanta Airport USO. The USO at the Atlanta Airport is a “home away from home” for R&R travelers.

  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Airport

Rental Car Companies Some rental car companies have extended special rental rates for travelers on R&R. Click here for up-to-date information.

Armed Forces Recreation Centers (AFRC) The AFRCs are offering special packages for Service members and their families taking leave from service in Iraq. Here are some details:
