2009 ALL ARMY CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
4 - 10 April, 2009

Note: The deadline for an individual registering for the competition is 2 March, 2009. Applications can be sent online or by fax using this form (right click and download), or use Form Filler for DA 4878-R and send it to kris.dalessandro@us.army.mil.

The objective of the annual All Army Chess Tournament is to promote interest in the Army Recreation program through the application of mental skills that relate to military strategy. It gives soldiers a chance to enhance their combat readiness by applying learned skills in logic and strategic thinking at the Army's highest level of competition.

All Army personnel on active duty for 90 days or more are eligible to participate. We look for applicants that are strong players, are actively participating in USCF sanctioned tournaments and have a high level of tournament experience.

The location for the competition is scheduled for 4-10 April at Fort Myer, Arlington, VA.

The 2009 Interservice Chess Championship is scheduled for 3-9 May at Fort Benning, Georgia. The 2009 NATO Chess Championships will be held in Hammelburg, Germany, 13-19 June.

Please note that you MUST play, and place in the top 6, in the 2009 All Army Chess to qualify for the 2009 Interservice and place in that to qualify for the 2009 NATO Chess Championships.
