Boxes filled with the warmth of true Christmas spirit from the Army Family and MWR Command were shipped to the 51st Transportation Company in Q-West, a small installation in the western desert of Iraq.
“I got an email from Spc. Richard Cedeno, with the 51st,” said Staff Sgt. Toprane Coatney, Army Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) representative, “telling me they never get any packages, so I said, what do you need?”
Through the efforts of Coatney and Sgt. Dennis Andrews, also with BOSS, and the generosity of the staff at FMWRC, the boxes will reach their destination in about a week.
Employees donated books, candy, food, little toys, personal hygiene items and other reminders of life here in the states over the past two weeks to fill the care packages.
“Spc. Cedeno used to be president of BOSS in Mannheim, Germany. We’ve already sent them one shipment of promotional items as giveaways at their Texas Hold ‘em tournament. This is their second shipment.”
